Why “La Mémoire du Lieu” (The Memory of Place)

In the age of flat-roofed buildings, oversized terraces and floor-to-ceiling windows, the concept of “Memory of Place” may seem insignificant. And yet, it should be an integral part of any architectural concept if we want to preserve the soul of the territory built by our ancestors.

Our ancestors were very pragmatic, and each piece of stone or wood had a specific purpose.

The challenge to be met therefore consists in ensuring that our architectural intervention – from the wall to the urban fabric – is integrated into the territory while respecting its own rules.
